Khumbu Region

The Everest Region, also known as the Khumbu, is one of Nepal’s most iconic mountain landscapes, lying in the northeast of the country along the border with Tibet. Dominated by the world’s highest peaks—including Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse—the region is filled with massive glaciers, turquoise glacial lakes, and deep alpine valleys. It is home to the Sherpa people, whose vibrant culture, prayer flags, monasteries, and mani walls create a unique spiritual atmosphere. The area is protected within Sagarmatha National Park and is famous worldwide for world-class trekking routes, challenging climbs, and breathtaking high-altitude scenery.
