Mera Peak + Amphu Laptsa + Island Peak
Trek Overview
The Mera Peak + Amphu Laptsa + Island Peak Expedition is one of Nepal’s most thrilling and demanding alpine journeys, combining two iconic trekking peaks with one of the most technical and spectacular high passes in the Himalayas. This ultimate adventure takes you deep into the remote Hinku Valley, across the dramatic Amphu Laptsa Pass (5,845m), and into the legendary Khumbu region for a final ascent of Island Peak (6,189m). The expedition begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, followed by a gradual acclimatization trek into the wild and pristine landscapes of the Hinku Valley. Your first summit objective is Mera Peak (6,476m)—the highest trekking peak in Nepal—offering panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga. After the summit, the route traverses rugged glacial terrain and climbs towards Amphu Laptsa, one of the most technical and beautiful passes in the region, requiring fixed ropes, glacier travel, and careful navigation. Crossing into the Imja Valley, you then prepare for your second summit: Island Peak, a classic Himalayan climbing peak known for its steep headwall and thrilling summit ridge. The climb rewards you with front-row views of Lhotse’s imposing south face and the 360° panorama of the Everest Himalaya. This combined expedition is perfect for experienced trekkers and aspiring mountaineers who want a high-altitude challenge, varied terrain, and a true Himalayan expedition atmosphere. With expert guides, proper acclimatization, and a well-planned itinerary, this journey delivers unmatched adventure, technical excitement, and breathtaking Himalayan scenery.
